🏀 Lady Dawg Legacy Night 🤍❤️ What an unforgettable night in the Dawg House as we honored the Legacy of Girls’ Basketball at Carthage High School — a proud tradition built by incredible women, remarkable coaches, and generations of Lady Dawgs who wore the red and white with pride. We welcomed to center court Coach Kit Kyle and Miss Sandra Walker, two legends whose impact continues to shape Carthage basketball. Miss Walker led the Lady Bulldogs from 1960–1978, taking her teams to the UIL State Tournament in 1968, 1969, 1971, and 1978. She taught her players timeless lessons — to always give your best, on the court, on the job, and in life, and to always want your best to be better. Many of her former players were in attendance tonight to celebrate the legacy she built. ❤️ We also celebrated the homecoming of Coach Kit Kyle, a 1988 CHS graduate, former Lady Dawg player, and one of the most accomplished coaches in Texas high school basketball. With over 780 career wins, five trips to the UIL State Tournament, and honors including National High School Coach of the Year and the Pat Summitt Award, Coach Kyle’s return to Carthage marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our program. Though the Lady Dawgs came up short in a hard-fought game against Marshall, the pride in this gym tonight was undeniable. As Coach Kyle reminded our players, our alumni are proud of their heart, effort, and growth — and the best is yet to come for Lady Dawg Basketball. 🌿 Carthage FFA is STATE BOUND! 🎉🐾 The Carthage FFA Wildlife & Recreation Management Team competed at the Texas FFA Region IV Contest held at Mast Farms in Nacogdoches on Wednesday, November 5. 🏆 We’re proud to announce the team placed 3rd in Area VI, earning a trip to the State Contest in April! Carthage also finished 9th overall in Region IV, which includes schools from both Area VI and Area IX — with 40 total teams competing! 👏 Team Members: • Lucas McDaniel • Trip Creech • Tucker DeVille • Mason Harris 🔄 Alternate: Cole DeVille 🏅 Individual Honors: Congratulations to Lucas McDaniel, who placed 8th High Individual in Area VI! 🌾 About the Contest: The Wildlife & Recreation Management CDE challenges students to think and work like wildlife biologists, game wardens, and conservation professionals. 🎵 Congratulations to Mr. Jim Jones — NAMMB Hall of Fame Inductee! 🎵

Carthage ISD proudly celebrates Mr. Jim Jones, Carthage Director of Bands from 1999–2005, on his induction into the National Association of Military Marching Bands (NAMMB) Hall of Fame! 🏆

Mr. Jones was honored on Wednesday, October 29, during the UIL/NAMMB State Marching Contest held at Baylor University, where the Carthage Band delivered an outstanding performance — a fitting tribute to his lifelong impact on music education and the marching arts.

From his humble beginnings in Gilmer, Texas, to his leadership in Center, Pittsburg, Cleveland, and Carthage, Mr. Jones built award-winning programs rooted in excellence, mentorship, and passion for music. Over a remarkable 36-year career, he inspired thousands of students, led bands to countless sweepstakes honors, and left an enduring mark on the Texas band community.

Mr. Jones’ legacy also includes service as TMEA Region 10 Band Chairman, NAMMB President and Executive Secretary, and ATSSB State Representative, along with multiple Hall of Fame inductions and prestigious recognitions such as the UIL Sponsor Excellence Award and SFA’s Outstanding Bandsman Award.

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Jim Jones on this incredible honor and thanking him for his lasting contributions to music education and to generations of students who continue to carry the rhythm of his influence.
